About
Scotty Pulley is a Dallas-based painter whose work explores memory, atmosphere, and spiritual presence. A native Texan with deep ties to Southeast Missouri, Scotty’s creative journey has been anything but linear—shaped by early studies in architecture and fine art, military service during the Gulf War, and a long career in user experience and interactive design.
Born in Houston and raised between the Gulf Coast and the rural quiet of Bloomfield, Missouri, Scotty first turned to painting as a child. After enrolling at Harding University to study architecture—only to discover the school lacked a dedicated program—he majored in fine art with a minor in physics. His path shifted dramatically when he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Persian Gulf and Bosnia before being honorably discharged under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
Scotty later found a new outlet for his creative instincts in digital product design, building intuitive, human-centered experiences for companies like American Express, MasterCard, and FIS Worldpay. But it was his quiet return to oil painting that reawakened his earliest passion.
Today, Scotty works primarily in oils, building a diverse body of work that spans landscapes, florals, figurative studies, and cityscapes. His paintings often capture the unnoticed beauty of a moment—a brewing storm, a patch of wildflowers, a flicker of quiet light. Through a balance of abstraction and realism, his work reveals depth in the everyday and evokes the breathless stillness of presence.
His paintings are held in corporate and private collections across the U.S., Germany, and Australia. A member of the Tin Ranch Art Collective, Scotty lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
