Behind the Canvas: Meet the Artist

Hey there — I’m Scotty Pulley. I’m the person behind the paint, the art, and the prints you’ll find here.

My first introduction to creating art was the summer when I was 10, and my mom sent me for lessons with a local artist. Another way to say it is that she gave me something to do outside of the house so she could have a break. No matter. I am forever thankful for her needing stress relief, as art has become a lifelong journey. Sometimes it has been serious; other times it has been just something I did on the side. Eventually, I realized that the process — the act of creating — wasn’t just a habit. It was how I made sense of the world and the air I needed to breathe.

My work tends to lean into texture, emotion, and color. Much of it is shaped by things I don’t always have words for. I’m drawn to imperfection — to the parts of a painting that surprise me, fight back, or fall apart just right. When selecting subjects, I try to find the unseen or the beauty found in the mundane and then interpret it in oils as I perceive the subject in the world.

This shop exists because I wanted to share that work, but in a way that felt sustainable and honest. I don’t sell originals here — just high-quality prints based on my paintings. They’re printed on demand, which means each one is made when someone orders it. No warehouse. No stockpile. Just you, me, and a print that started out as something I made with my own two hands.

This space isn’t just about selling. It’s also about storytelling. I’ll be dropping these “Behind the Brush” posts once a month or so — a look into the art, the process, the mistakes, and the moments behind the work.

Thanks for being here. It really does mean something.

– Scotty
