About the Artist
Scotty's artwork is defined by rich colors and passionate, tumultuous brush strokes that breathe life into subtle, everyday subjects. His creative spirit was nurtured by his mother and grandmother, inspired by summers spent on his grandfather's farm, where the beauty of nature became central to his artistic vision. Scotty's keen eye for the overlooked moments of beauty in the world is at the heart of his work.
Born in Houston, Texas, and later relocating to the small town of Bloomfield, Missouri, as a teenager, Scotty's journey toward a career in art began with an initial interest in architecture. However, without a dedicated architecture program at Harding University, he pursued a major in fine art with a minor in physics. Scotty went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War, stationed in the Persian Gulf and Bosnia, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Regents College.
After being honorably discharged from the military under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, Scotty shifted to a successful career in interactive design, working with major companies like MasterCard and AT&T. As he gradually refocused on his artwork, Scotty rediscovered his passion for the visual arts, refining his distinctive style. He works primarily in oils, creating a diverse body of work that spans landscapes, florals, cityscapes, and figurative pieces. Scotty is drawn to the quiet, often unnoticed beauty of the world, capturing moments like a patch of wildflowers or a brewing storm—scenes that reveal unexpected depth.
Scotty's work is held in corporate collections in the United States and private collections internationally, from the United States to Germany and Australia. His distinct blend of abstraction and realism continues to bring depth and focus to the subtle beauty that surrounds us every day.
Scotty is a member of the Tin Ranch Art Collective and lives in Dallas, Texas.
